BiomEdit is building a new class of animal-health products based on the ability to understand, engineer and intentionally modify microbial biology. Formed in 2022 from microbiome discovery and development capabilities originally established within Elanco Animal Health, BiomEdit combines deep animal-health expertise with computational biology, microbial discovery, strain engineering and editing, product development, regulatory capability and commercial understanding.
The company’s central proposition extends beyond conventional microbiome therapeutics. BiomEdit is developing what it believes can become a distinct therapeutic modality: programmable veterinary biologics—living microbial systems selected and engineered to perform defined biological functions within the animal.
